Obituary of Mary Lou Walsh

Shelton Resident Mary Lou Walsh (nee Flaherty) died peacefully in her home Sunday evening with her loving husband and daughter, Susan, by her side. Mrs. Walsh was born and raised in Norwalk, Connecticut, the daughter of Thomas and Anastasia (Kelly) Flaherty. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Stamford in 1952. After attending business school, she worked in the corporate offices of Pepperidge Farm Bakery until shortly after her marriage to Michael Walsh in 1957. She left Pepperidge Farm to raise her six children and assist her husband in the management and operations of a property business and liquor store that bore their name. In the mid 1980's, she returned to the formal workforce as a teller with Fairfield County Savings Bank, where she rose to the position of branch manager. In retirement she worked part-time in the Accounting Department of Rex Marine Center in Norwalk. Mrs.Walsh was an avid reader, a fan of old movies and police procedural TV shows, and loved traveling with her husband. They enjoyed several trips to Ireland, England, Maine and Florida, among other places. She is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Michael, her children: Tim Walsh and his wife Teresa, of Westport; Jeanne Scarpone and Linda Walsh, both of Shelton; Dianne Jewell and her husband Jeff, of Norwalk; Megan Hogan and her husband Philip, of Fairfield; and Susan Walsh, of Shelton, as well as ten grandchildren that she loved dearly and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Thursday from 4-8 pm.
