Obituary of Josephine J. Viglione

Josephine Julia Ruggiero Viglione, age 93, died peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 16, 2008 in St. Josephs Manor, now to join her beloved husband Anthony in Heaven. Born on August 11, 1914 in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late John and Pasqualina (Cioffi) Ruggiero and the stepdaughter of Philomena (Cioffi) Ruggiero.

Josephine was a sample maker seamstress of womens sportswear, dress and lingerie for the garment industry. Her samples were brought to the New York buyers for seasonal ordering. Josephine loved to knit and crochet. She spent many hours making hats for newborn infants for local hospitals in the Bridgeport and New Haven areas as a member of the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (R. S. V. P.) Josephine was a volunteer at the Trumbull Senior Nutrition Program for many years. As a member of the Golden Follies and the Chorus at the Trumbull Senior Center, she enjoyed sharing her love of music with others. She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Parish, and a past member of St. Catherines Ladies Guild, the Friendship Club and the Columbiettes. She was also a member of the Social Club at Stern Village.

She is survived by her devoted children, Matthew Martiro and his wife Carol of Trumbull, Virginia Hofford and her husband Kenneth of Trumbull and Anthony Viglione and his wife Elizabeth of Newtown, a sister, Lena Filippini of Ansonia, four grandchildren, Lynn, Matthew, Jennifer and Michael, five great grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, Connor, Sadie and Owen and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her brother Anthony Ruggiero. The family would like to extend their thanks and deep appreciation to the entire staff at St. Joseph's Manor for their wonderful care. 

Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. for a reading of the Liturgy of the Word. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Josephines memory to the Employee Giving Fund at St. Joseph Manor, 6448 Main St., Trumbull, CT 06611.
