Obituary of Vincent Vida

Trumbull Resident Vincent Vida, age 75, husband of Elizabeth Preg Vida, died September 10, 2011 after a long illness. Born October 13, 1935 in Bagamer, Hungary, he was son of the late Sandor and Julianna Csete Vida. Vincent moved to the United States in 1957 and made Stratford, CT his home. In 1997, he and Elizabeth settled in Trumbull, CT. Vincent is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Vida Capra and husband Anthony Capra of Orlando, FL, and Judy Vida Burke and her husband James Burke of Westport, CT. Vincent was a devoted grandfather to his six grandchildren, Andrew, Alexa, Evan, Allison, Riley, and Carson. He is also survived by his brother, Alexander Vida of Bridgeport, CT and cousin, Sandor Vida of Proctor, VT. Vincent worked at Handy & Harman in Fairfield for 34 years before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Unity Hill United Church of Christ in Trumbull where he served as deacon. Prior to that, he was an active member of the First United Church of Christ in Bridgeport, where he was an elder, member of the Consistory, and president of The Brotherhood. Vincent was also a loyal member of the Masonic Lodge Fidelity St. Johns #3. Vincent was very proud of his Hungarian heritage, which was exemplified by his love of Hungarian cooking. His other interests included vegetable gardening, carefully nurturing his fruit trees, and tending to the various plants and flowers in his yard. Above all, Vincent loved spending time with his grandchildren and sharing his hobbies with them. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT 06611 and at 9:00 a.m. in the Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Rd. Trumbull, CT 06611. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Family and friends may call on Friday September 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Masonic Rite Service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
