Obituary of John J. Vernon

U.S. Army Veteran John J. Vernon age 90, of Monroe, died peacefully on Wednesday December 31, 2008 at Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania on September 28, 1918 he was the son of the late Joseph Vernon and Martha Nagovska. John was a retired 20 year employee of the Schick Corp. A decorated veteran, John served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Kryskiewicz Vernon and loving niece Stephanie Coyle whom he helped raise. Brother-in-laws include John Roma of Waterbury, Edward Kristie and his wife Rita of Trumbull, Chester Kryskiewicz and his wife Joan of Bridgeport. He is also survived by Mark Kryskiewicz and his wife Gina, Ed Kristie and his wife Elaine, James Kristie and his wife Linda, Dolores Grozio and her husband Harry, Susan Kristie, and by additional nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 9:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends and relatives may call on Saturday morning from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
