Obituary of Edna G. Uhl

Edna Goodard Uhl, age 96, of Trumbull, beloved wife of the late William E. Uhl, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 29, 2013 at her residence. Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 15, 1917, she was a daughter of the late August and Josephine Hutter Goodard. Mrs. Uhl was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Edna loved reading, quilting and tag saleing. She gave generously of her time to various charities and was active in Girl Scouts, Trumbull Historical Society, Trumbull Womens Club and the Trumbull Congregational Church. She was instrumental in organizing the library at St. Theresas School and volunteered at the Trumbull Public School Libraries. Edna graduated with a BS and MA in Library Science and worked for 15 years as the Childrens Librarian for the Stratford Public Library before her retirement. Edna was filled with energy, determination and a zest for life. She always had a smile and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Survivors include, a son Dr. Jeffrey R. Uhl and his wife Sherry of PA, a foster son, Charles Olsen and his wife Yasuko of Japan, five grandchildren, Kristin Gally and her husband Francis, Jeffrey Uhl Jr., Judy Berchadasky and her husband Jonathan, Jeffrey Olsen and his wife Genevieve, Renee Sarubi and her husband James, 10 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, John Goodard and a sister, Sophia Burns. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, New York. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 from 2-4 p.m.
