Obituary of Joseph Warren Toth

Retired Bridgeport Police Officer Joseph Warren Toth, age 98, of Bethel, husband of the late Julia Makar Toth, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2012 after a brief illness. Mr. Toth was born in Bridgeport on November, 4, 1913, a son of the late Joseph and Barbara Hugya Toth. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended the University of Kentucky. Upon leaving UK, Joe worked in Washington, DC in the FBI, where he gained a vast knowledge of fingerprinting. This knowledge he took with him to the Bridgeport Police Dept. where he organized the Fingerprint Division. Joe continued as a detective and fingerprint expert for twenty five years and retired as police lieutenant. Joe loved his family, the Patriots, being outside working on his property and spending time with his dogs. He is survived by his two daughters, Barbara Dixon and her husband Randy of Oxford and Deborah Farrell and her husband Robert of Shelton, four grandchildren, Kate Farrell, Rebecca, Jennifer and Michael Dixon and Kaylee and a great granddaughter, Melanie Jo. Survivors also include Helen Hudock a cousin and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Pearl Huenerberg and his brother, Al, who was killed in World War II when his plane crash in the Aleutian Islands. He always gave special thanks to his nephew Ron Makar and his wife Mollie, and to his caregiver Mark, who shared Joes deep religious convictions. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
