Obituary of Concepcion M. Torres

Owner Conchita's Grocery Concepcion M. Torres, age 72, of Bridgeport, died peacefully on Saturday November 1, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Salinas Puerto Rico on December 15, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Gonzalo Matias and Adela Rivera de Matias. Mrs. Torres was educated in Salinas and came to the U. S. and settled in Bridgeport in 1950. In 1960 she married her beloved late husband Pedro Luis Torres in the Chapel of Nuestra Senora de La Providencia by Father Companone. She was the owner and operator of Conchitas Grocery of Bridgeport and was also formerly employed by Bridgeport Metal Goods. Survivors include two loving children, Peter Torres Sr. and his wife Madeline of Hamden and Adela Torres-Santiago and her husband Charles of Stratford, five cherished grandchildren, Peter Torres Jr., Sofia Concepcion Santiago, Julianna Milagros Santiago, Natalie Olivia Santiago and Jessica Y. Lopez, four sisters, Josfina Rivera and Luisa Maldonado both of Bridgeport, Angela Matias of Florida and Lucy Rauccio of West Haven, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous dear friends. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday November 5, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. George Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.
