Obituary of Carmela Breither

Mrs. Carmela Cavallaro Breither of Trumbull, born on July 15, 1915, died peacefully at her home on the dawn of her 90th birthday, July 15, 2005, after a short illness. Born in Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore and Domenica DiLeo Cavallaro.

Carmela was pre-deceased by her first husband, Frank J. Piazza and also her second husband, Edgar Breither, a brother, Sam Cavallaro and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Piazza.

Carmela was a life long area resident. She was the owner of The Handy Shop on Main Street in Bridgeport specializing in dress making and alterations, then in later years was a successful seamstress working from her home. Carmela had a great love of flowers and nature and was an avid gardener who loved the feel of the earth at her fingertips.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Frank Piazza of Bridgeport and friend, Wilma DAmore, her beloved sister, Emily Kovacs of Bridgeport, her grandchildren, Frank Piazza, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Trumbull, Raymond Piazza and friend, Teri of Stratford, Jack Piazza and his wife, Theresa of Stratford, Lynn Ries and her husband, Douglas of Stratford and Mark Piazza and his wife, Toni of Stratford. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Frankie, Jackie, Cheryl, Alisha and Lisa Piazza, nephew Philip Cavallaro and his wife, Ethel and niece, Debbie Riggott and her husband, Dave and sister-in-law, Ceilia Cavallaro. 

At the wishes of her family, services for Carmela will be private.
