Obituary of Donald E. Thompson

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather Donald E. Thompson, age 75, of Shelton, a retired police officer for the City of Shelton, died on Sunday, August 8, 2010 in St. Vincents Medical Center. Born in Williamantic, on November 21, 1934, he was a son of the late Walter and Dorothy Johnson Thompson and a U. S. Navy Veteran. He was also an officer for the City of New Haven Police Department, Yale University Campus Security, Hull Dye Security and Sikorsky Aircraft Security. He was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Fairfield where he proudly served as a Eucharistic Minister. He also volunteered at St. Vincents Medical Center and Cambridge Manor visiting the sick and administering communion. He was a 3rd and 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a district deputy representing various councils. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who was loved by all. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include his beloved family, wife, Virginia Thompson, six children, Don Thompson of Derby, Michael Thompson and his wife Teresa of Arizona, Kathleen Marine and her husband Gary of Florida, Tracy Ippolito and her husband Michael of Derby, Gary Thompson and his wife Lisa of Shelton and James Thompson and his wife Erin of Florida, a sister Marj Morrison and her husband Daryl of PA, 17 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
