Obituary of Frank Gerratana

Frank Gerratana, age 90, of Trumbull, died on Saturday, February 12, 2005 at Maefair Health Center. Born in New York City on September 3, 1914, he was the son of the late Josephine and Tom Gerratana. He was a professional photographer for over 40 years and Chief Photographer for the Connecticut Herald, past New England Director and a lifetime member of the National Press Photographers Association. He was past President of the Bridgeport Camera Club. During his lengthy career, he photographed every U.S. President from Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Richard Nixon. He was the only press photographer allowed to photograph Princess Grace and Prince Rainier of Monaco when they visited her cousin in Westport. Many of his photographs appeared in the Miniature Gazette and other periodicals. Mr Gerratana was past Connecticut representative and member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts. With his wife, he exhibited their handmade miniature houses and dolls throughout the country, did slide lectures and workshops in the U.S., Canada and England. He was past president of the Miniature Collectors Guild and was known for his handcrafted miniature medical instruments. He was a past member of the St. Theresas Seniors.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Evelyn Mainiero (Miner) Gerratana, a daughter, Mimi Barber and her husband Tom of Keene, NH, a son, Dr. Frank Gerratana and his wife, Theresa of New Britian, grandchildren, Stacy Barber, Keith Barber, Frank Gerratana and Gregory Gerratana, a great granddaughter, Lindsay Barber, as well as several nieces and nephews. 

Friends can meet on Wednesday, Februaury 16, 2005 at 10 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
