Obituary of Evelyn L. Gerratana

Trumbull Resident Evelyn Gerratana, of Trumbull, died on May 15, 2008. She was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on June 5, 1912, daughter of the late Luciano (Louis) and Concetta (Kate) Mainiero. Her husband of 70 years, Frank Gerratana, died on February 12, 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Mimi Barber, and husband, Tom, of Keene, NH; son, Dr. Frank Gerratana, and wife, Theresa, of New Britain, CT; grandchildren: Stacy Barber, Keith Barber, Frank Gerratana, Gregory Gerratana; great granddaughter, Lindsay Barber; and several nieces and nephews. She served eight years as the Regional Director (New England region) of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts and a former National Historian for 12 years. She had conducted a week of seminars on miniatures (history, great collections, museums, craftsmen, miniature White House) for the New York State Historical Society at Cooperstown, NY. She was Past President of the Miniature Collectors Guild of Southern Connecticut, former vice-president of the Jenny Lind Doll Club and former member of several other miniature and doll clubs. She had been an instructor of porcelain painting for over forty years and specialized in porcelain bisque miniature dolls and Victorian accessories. She had been featured in articles in the Trumbull Times, The Elder, Carriage World Society Newsletter, Dollhouse News, Newtown Bee, Miniature Gazette, Waterbury Republican and the Bridgeport Post. She had lectured at the Explorers Club in New York City, and in Boston, and Ashland, Virginia. Her miniatures have been exhibited in New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey and Connecticut. She was also past president of the Stratfield Garden Club and past president of the Miniature Collectors Guild and past member of St. Theresas Seniors. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull.
