Obituary of Rafael M. Tamayo

Rafael (Ralph) M. Tamayo, age 86, of Trumbull, entered into peaceful rest on Monday, July 11, 2005 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born on June 29, 1919 in Banes, Oriente, Cuba, he was the son of Rafael and Mariana Serrano Tamayo. Ralph was employed by International Harvester and was the owner of Shell Service Centers and Rite Auto Parts in Bridgeport. He was a talented builder of remote control airplanes and was a longstanding member of the Trumbull RC Club. He will be remembered as an avid Yankees fan and a truly gentle man.

He was the beloved husband of 58 years of Astrida Fernandez Tamayo, proud father of Ailsa T. Lindquist and her husband, David, Rafael (Ray) M. Tamayo, Rose M. Easter and her husband, Rennis and daughter-in-law, Donna Violante, devoted grandfather to Kelli F. Giammarco and her husband, Michael, Kris A. Lindquist, Megan K. Lindquist, Elena V. Tamayo, Jessica V. Tamayo and Michael R. Easter. He is also survived by his two adored great grandchildren, Ryan and Aiden Giammarco, his sister, Amalia Roldan and a circle of family and friends in Connecticut, Florida and Cuba.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the 4th floor nurses at the Jewish Home for the Elderly and the VNS for their concern and care.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
