Obituary of Augustina Gentile

Resident of Southport Augustina Augie Russo Gentile, age 85, of Southport, beloved wife of the late Louis Gentile Sr., died peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2007 in Connecticut Hospice, Branford. Born in Bridgeport on January 30, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Geraci Russo. Mrs. Gentile was a retired employee of Handy and Harmon with over 25 years of service. She along with her late husband were very active members of the Owen Fish American Legion Unit #143. Mrs. Gentile was a charter member and served through the chairs and was elected Unit President many times. She was also a member of the 8/40, a subsidiary organization of the American Legion Auxiliary and served through the chairs of Salon 45 and was Chapeau in 1995 and had also served as LaCoincerage of Departmental. She was a volunteer at the VA Hospital in West Haven, a member of the Town of Fairfield Veterans Committee, active in town politics and worked the polls. Augie enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Tuesday Night Ladies League at Circle Lanes and also the Wednesday night league at the Nutmeg Lanes. She was predeceased by a brother Joseph Russo. Survivors include her loving children, Louis Gentile Jr. and his wife Jill of Danbury, Linda Tremalio and her husband Richard of Fairfield, two brothers, Vincent Russo and his wife Betty of Fairfield, Robert Russo and his wife Betty of Shelton, two sisters, Libby Balas of Shelton, Martha Colangelo of Stratford; a brother in law, Sal Gentile and his wife Marie of Stratford, five grandchildren, Brian Tremalio and his wife Monique, Aaron Tremalio, Leah Kunkel and her husband Matt and Ashley and Ryan Gentile, four great grandchildren, Allannah, Makenna, Nicholas and Ava and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9:30 a.m. in the Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Members of the American Legion Post 143 will conduct a memorial ritual on Monday at 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
