Obituary of John F. Stein

John F. (Jack) Stein, age 84, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Dorothy Mazzadra Stein, died on Sunday, March 13, 2005 at Cambridge Manor surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Fairfield, he was a son of the late John and Bessie Stein, and was a World War ll U. S. Army veteran and a purple heart recipient. John was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 38 years in Bridgeport, Stratford and Trumbull. He also worked for 18 years at Oronoque Pharmacy along with his daughter and son in law and was affectionately known as Papa Jack. Mr. Stein was a member of America-St. Johns Lodge No. 8 A.F. & A.M. of Stratford, a member of the Bridgeport Old Timers Athletic Association, and a member of N.A.R.F.E and the AARP. He was a true sports fan, and will be sadly missed by his loving family.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, survivors include a son, John Stein and his wife, Georgia of Milford, two daughters, Darlene Nuzzo and her husband Louis of Huntington and Donna Patterson and her boyfriend Jerry Iannucci of Bridgeport, his treasured grandchildren, Melissa and Lee Brownbill of North Carolina, Kim and Neil Phillips of Milford, John Stein lll of Milford, Scott Stein and fiance Lori of New Haven, Jennifer Piche and fiance Pete of Bridgeport, and Jenna Nuzzo and Louie Nuzzo, Jr., both of Huntington, two great grandchildren, Christopher and Kayla Gyger, a brother, George Stein of Fairfield and cousins Rita and Pete Lazar of Fairfield and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 -8 p.m.
