Obituary of Vito Sorge

Vito Sorge, age 84, of Stratford, husband and love of her life to Marie Rotondo Sorge, passed away peacefully in Lord Chamberlain Health and Rehab Center on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Vito was born in Bridgeport to the late Louis Sorge and Jennie Roberto Sorge. He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School and served in Germany during the Korean War as a Tech Sergeant with the 242nd Headquarters Battery of the Connecticut National Guard for 16 years, leaving as a Chief Warrant Officer, 4th Grade. Before his retirement he was a supervisor of the government property accounting department at Textron Lycoming for over 30 years. Vito was a devoted husband, parent, grandparent and great grandparent who was a musician, artist, model maker, cook, gardener and handyman, but gave the most important thing of all to his family, friends and neighbors-himself. He was a member of the Bridgeport Musicians Union over 60 years. Living at Oronoque Village for 30 years, he served on many committees including Past President of the Mens Club. In addition to Marie, his beloved wife of 62 years, survivors include a daughter, Viki Heady (Andy) of Bridgeport, a son, Kenneth Sorge (Maisa) of Florida, two grandchildren, Jessica Myers (Ryan), Andrea Heady and Steve Batista and a great grandson, Stevie Batista. He was pre-deceased by his twin brother, Dominick Sorge. Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Funeral Information Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
