Obituary of Jean Smith

Fairfield Resident Jean Chessa Smith, age 87, of Fairfield, a retired dressmaker, died on Monday, February 27, 2006 in Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on April 12, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Giovanna Barra Chessa. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph D. Smith, three sisters, Molly DeLotto, Mary Barra and Pauline Rassu, a brother, John Chessa and a granddaughter, Allison Leigh Arnow. Survivors include four children, Joan Arnow and her husband, Alan of Fairfield, Joseph Smith of Derby, Janet Smith of Norwalk and Ronald Smith of Fairfield, two sisters, Betty Scioscia of Bridgeport and Josephine Rizzardi of Trumbull, a grandson, Brian Arnow and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, March 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends and relatives may call on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
