Obituary of Dominic L. Simoncelli

Dominic L. Simoncelli, passed away Saturday January 12, 2013 at St. Vincents Medical Center. He was born in Bantam, CT on March 17, 1924 and after his family moved to Bridgeport, he later attended Central High School. During World War II, he was a sergeant in the U.S. Army under General Patton and saw action in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe. He had a long career in the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as Supervisor of Postal Carriers in Bridgeport, Stratford, Trumbull and Easton. He was President of the Bridgeport Philatelic Society, a Cub Scout Master and an avid gardener in his spare time. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Costantini Simoncelli of Bridgeport, his son Peter Simoncelli of Storrs, sisters, Mary Chuba and Evelyn Kundrak both of Bridgeport; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters, Louise Fiore, Rose Fraboni and Viola Sacco. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday January 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Andrews Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment with full military honors will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
