Obituary of James R. Silva

Easton Resident James Robert (Butch) Silva, age 67, of Easton, died peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2007. Born in Beverly, MA on July 7, 1940 he was a son of the late Thomas Sr., and Catherine Russell Silva. Butch attended Fairfield Preparatory School and graduated from the former University School in Bridgeport. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War from 1963-1965. He worked for Tetra-Pak in Shelton, and the Hall-Brooke Hospital in Westport. Butch was a wealth of knowledge in sports (especially baseball), and WWII history, sharing his astuteness with his family and friends. An ardent Ted Williams and Red Sox fan, he also was a voracious reader, lending his favorite reads to others. He loved his hometown of Easton, NEVER forgot a birthday or anniversary, and throughout his life had a considerable compassion for senior citizens. His family will be forever grateful to the Pulie and Sherwood families, caregivers, Hospice, and his many friends. Survivors include his sister, Joanne McCarty, and her husband John of Clinton, brother, Thomas S. Silva, Jr., and his wife Jean of Huntington, cherished nieces and nephews, Thomas McCarty, and his wife Jen of Wakefield, RI, Thomas M. Silva, of Norwalk, Kate Boughton, and her husband Rick of Oakdale, and Molly K. McCarty, of Charlottesville, VA. He also leaves one great niece and six great nephews. Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday September 26, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in Notre Dame Church of Easton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday morning from 8:15 a.m. until the time of service.
