Obituary of George Seferi

George Seferi, age 84, of Shelton, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his residence. Born in Korce, Albania on April 22, 1927, he was a son of the late Lazo and Catherine Lazo Seferi and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He was the co-owner along with his brothers, Nicholas and Peter Seferi who together operated the former Monroe Supermarket for over 35 years in the Stepney section of Monroe. Mr. Seferi enjoyed traveling, especially to Florida. He was an athletic person and enjoyed jogging and exercising at Planet Fitness.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Helen and Art Soter, Florence Evanko and the late Ronald Evanko, Gloria and James Rubis, Norman and Helen Seferi and Spiro and Karen Seferi, great nieces and nephews, Nicholas and Anthony Soter, Karen Maietto, Dawn and James Evanko, Diane Hotchkiss, Michael and Christopher Rubis, Michele Francisco, Nicholas, Kenny, Trevor, Adam and Andrew Seferi, great great nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Nicholas and Melanie Soter, Lauren and Christopher Rubis, Colon and Brandon Francisco, Jamie Maietto and Lexi Hotchkiss.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Nicholas and Peter Seferi. The family would like to thank his dedicated caretaker Adols Merik Szajkowski and hospice nurse, Mary McCallum.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 30, 2011 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, 504 Sport Hill Road, Easton followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
