Obituary of Louis M. Scalzi

U. S. Navy Veteran Louis M. Scalzi, age 81, of Monroe, beloved husband of Diane Fiore Scalzi, passed peacefully away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at St. Vincents Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Born in Bridgeport on April 26, 1930, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Rudnansky Scalzi. After graduating from Harding High School in 1947, Louis enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country aboard the USS Princeton Air Craft Carrier during the Korean War. Before his retirement, he worked at The Heim Bearing Company as Chief Engineer. Two passions of his were professional and college sports and U.S. history. He read about many topics of U.S. history, especially the Civil War. But above all he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who was very thoughtful and cared deeply about his family. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Scalzi Provenzano. In addition to Diane, his devoted wife of 57 years, survivors include three devoted children, Michael D. Scalzi and his wife Louise and their children Madeline and Christopher of Maryland, Susan Scalzi Piche and her husband Joe and their children Anne-Frances, Alison and Ryan of Colorado and Carol Ann Scalzi Shea and her husband Joel and daughter Kathleen of New Hampshire; sister, Geraldine Scalzi LoConte of Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stephen Church, Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John Cemetery, Monroe.
