Obituary of Joseph L. Russo

Joseph L. Russo, age 87, of Fairfield, a retired electrician for Avco Lycoming with 32 years of service, died on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Born in Woodbury, New Jersey on December 6, 1918, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Geraci Russo. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Theresa Gentile Russo. Mr. Russo enjoyed golfing and bowling and was an avid Yankees fan. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Stratfield Post #143 of Fairfield where he served as the Past Commander and State Historian. He was an active member of the Sons of Italy, the Holy Name Society of Holy Family Church and was the president of the Textron Retirees Club. Survivors include a son, Joseph S. Russo and his wife, Nikki of Waltham, MA, two daughters, Joanne Feher and her husband, Joel of Waterbury and Debra Goff of Stratford, two brothers, Vincent Russo and his wife, Betty of Fairfield and Robert Russo and his wife, Betty of Shelton, three sisters, Liboria Balas of Shelton, Augustina Gentile of Southport and Martha Colangelo of Stratford, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sal and Marie Gentile of Stratford. He was the loving grandfather of Wyatt Goff of Stratford, Dawn and Tara Feher of Waterbury and Alex and Julia Russo of Waltham, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 pm.
