Obituary of Dominick Russi

Dominick (Mickey) Russi, age 85, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in St. Vincent Medical Center. He was born in Bridgeport on May 9, 1923 to the late Nazzario and Lucia DiNello Russi. A decorated U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a proud recipient of the purple heart. He was the self-employed owner of Russi Tile and Remodeling Company.

Mr. Russi was pre-deceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Tarczali Russi and survived by his children, Darlene Cavaliere of West Haven, Deborah Russi and her husband Philip Georges of Bridgeport and Michael Russi and his wife Cheri of Tamarac, Florida, three grandsons, Christopher and Anthony Cavaliere of Stratford and Michael Russi of Florida and one sister, Angela Ceccarelli of Trumbull. His extended family includes John and Patty Kozdroy and their children, Maria, Priscilla and little Johnny who brought an unbelievable amount of joy to Dom. He had several nieces and nephews and was pre-deceased by brothers, Leonard and Michael Russi and sisters, Mary Migliore and Esther Csonka.

Dominick was a very honest and caring man who loved to help others whenever he could. He will be greatly missed. Every spring he looked forward to planting his garden where he would grow tomatoes and zucchini which he would share with everyone he knew. 

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
