Obituary of Elizabeth Roma

Resident of Trumbull Elizabeth S. Roma, age 80, passed away on November 23, 2006. Known by family and friends as Betty, she was born in Bridgeport and graduated from Bassick High School. She lived in Bridgeport until 1955 upon moving to Trumbull where she lived for 51 years. She was retired from the Trumbull Board of Education where she served for 22 years as a Library Secretary at Hillcrest Junior High School and Payroll Administrator for Plant Operations for 12 years. Betty was an avid gardener and loved to knit, she was also known for her Hungarian cooking. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew J. Roma, her mother, Elizabeth B. Driscoll, and her father, George Szabo, Sr. She is survived by her brother George Szabo, Jr. of Florida, three daughters and their husbands, June and Ed Machia of Trumbull, Carol and Mark Brennan of Milford, and Nancy and Chris Schneider of Monroe, six grandchildren, Matthew and Melissa Machia, Dana Rockwell, and Jeffrey, Elise and Russell Spitzer, a niece, Nancy Hewston of West Haven and a nephew, George Szabo, of Tennessee. Funeral Information Family and friends may call at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull from 3:00 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 26, 2006. A funeral service to celebrate Bettys life will be held at Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Street, Monroe at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2006 with Pastor Peter W. Allen and Pastor Alfred D. Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull.
