Obituary of Neil L. Rodia

Neil Lawrence Rodia, age 91, of Stratford, a retiree of General Electric Co. in Bridgeport with 40 years of service, died on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Bridgeport Hospital following a brief illness. Born on July 6, 1912 in Serino, Province of Avellino, Italy, he was a son of the late Consolato and Giovanina Cerino Rodia. At the age of 6 years, he came to the United States in 1918 with his parents and two sisters Jennie and Belinda. Mr. Rodia was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport before moving to Atria of Stratford three years ago. He was a Communicant of St. Ambrose Church, a member of the Quarter Century Club and the Pensioners Club of G.E. Mr Rodia was an avid gardener.

He was pre-deceased by his devoted wife of 63 years, the late Josephine Torreso Rodia and two sisters, Belinda Memoli and Jennie Yacoviello.

He was the loving father of daughter, Madeline Jean Archibald and Bart Archibald of Stratford and son, John A. Rodia and Fay Rodia of Huntington, also survived by a brother, Anthony Rodia of Trumbull, he was the beloved grandfather of Michael and Pamela Archibald, Denise and Christopher Goddard, Madeline and Gregory Alfonso, all of Stratford, Robin and Brian Casl of Fairfield, John and Gale Rodia and Amy and Eric Van Stone of Huntington, he cherished his nine great grandchildren, Samantha and Nicole Archibald, Gillian, Emily and Kelly Goddard, Cole and Kailey Casl, and Sloane and Phoebe Rodia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. 

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 9 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday 4- 8 p.m .
