Obituary of Josephine Rizzardi

Former Fairfield Resident Rizzardi -Josephine Chessa Rizzardi, age 95, of Fairfield, a retired dressmaker, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 25, 2009 in Carolton Convalescent Hospital. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on October 7, 1913, she was a daughter of the late Francesco and Giovanna Barra Chessa. She was a member of the Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Frank J. Rizzardi, four sisters, Molly DeLotto, Mary Barra, Jean Smith and Pauline Rassu and a brother, John Chessa. Survivors include her four children, Francine M. Wolf of Easton, Richard A. Rizzardi of Fairfield, Roger N. Rizzardi of Dayton, OH and David J. Rizzardi of Newtown, a sister, Betty Scioscia of Bridgeport, 10 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Information Friends can meet directly on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd., Fairfield for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
