Obituary of Joan Gallos

Resident of Monroe Joan Pavia Gallos, age 72, of Monroe, passed away on Wednesday January 9, 2013 peacefully at her home. Born in Bridgeport on December 29, 1940 and raised in Stratford, she was the daughter of the late Michael Pavia and Dora Gabriel Pavia. Joan graduated Stratford High Class of 1958, and truly treasured the special friendships that she had maintained throughout the years with a group of women that all attended Stratford High, the "SSL's". A lifelong resident of Monroe, Joan worked as an administrative assistant for the Monroe Board of Education for many years before her retirement. Joan also loved dancing, and was an avid hiker. Her love of travel took her to many corners of the world. She will be greatly missed. Joan was predeceased by her late husband Richard Gallos, Sr. Survivors include her son Richard Gallos and his wife Elizabeth of Rye, NY, and daughter Stacey Gallos of Alabama, her four beloved grandchildren, Trey, Cody and Aidan Gallos and Cambridge Layfield were the light of her life and she loved spending time with them. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Pavia and his wife Cheryl of Monroe, her sister, Barbara OConnell of Shelton, and her loving companion Philip Black of Woodbridge. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other members of the Gallos family. Funeral Information Family and friends are invited to greet the family from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. On Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 a.m., a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
