Obituary of Jeanne Prokop

Jeanne Diorio Prokop, age 81, of Stratford, a retired bookkeeper for General Electric, died at her residence on Friday, January 19, 2007. Born in Bridgeport on June 12, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Josephine Misurale Diorio and a Stratford resident for over 45 years. An avid basketball fan, she played for General Electric and was formerly the team captain.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Prokop Sr., a beloved daughter, Judy Barbero and her husband, Jay of Trumbull, three sisters, Eleanor Panicali of Fairfield, Antoinette Lucas of Shelton and Louise Kubik of Stratford, three grandchildren, Jody, Jay and Justin, many nephews and nieces. She was pre-deceased by her son, Richard Prokop Jr. 

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Hospice at Home, especially Helen Seferi R.N. and Joseph for all of their love and compassion during their time of need. Friends may call on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
