Obituary of Gene R. Potter

Former Owner of Biff's Package Store Gene R. Potter, Sr., age 77, of Shelton, the former owner and operator of Biffs Package Store in Trumbull, died on Monday, April 16, 2007 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in Milford on May 6, 1929, he was a son of the late Charles and Viola Swezey Potter, and was a US Marine Corps veteran. Gene had also worked with the William B. Myer Co. and Knechts Garage. He was a member of VFW Post 10059, Washington Lodge 19 A.F. & A.M., and the Lady Martha Order of the Eastern Star 103. Survivors include his beloved wife, of 58 years, Ruth Flynn Potter, four children, Diane Barriga and her husband, Raul of Shelton, Gene R. Potter, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Federalsburg, MD, Mark Potter and his wife, Nancy of Canton, NC and Annmarie Vittorio and her husband, Al of Wallingford, a brother, Bart Potter of OR, a sister, Patricia Young of AZ, a sister-in-law, Shirley Potter of Missouri, 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Gene was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Potter & Daniel Potter and a sister, Eunice Todhunter. Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 20, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. directly in Huntington Congregational Church, 19 Church St., Shelton. Interment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
