Obituary of Fred Poppa

Fred Poppa, devoted husband of Marie Verrilli Poppa, passed on to the Lord at St. Vincent's Medical Center, Bridgeport on Monday, March 21, 2005. He was pre-deceased by his parents August and Katherine Poppa. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft for 31 years, proudly working on the Presidential Line during President Kennedys and President Johnsons Administrations. Fred served in the Army for two years during the Korean War.

He is survived by his devoted daughters, Maria Alpert of Stamford and Lisa Perec of Trumbull, Ken Perec, his special son-in-law, his cherished grandson, Brendan Perec was the light of his life. Honoring his memory are the special cousins, godchildren and many friends.

Fred was a past president of the Sikorsky Teamsters Local 1150 Retirees, a member of Sikorsky Friendship Club, Shelton Senior Center and Baldwin Center. He enjoyed dancing, parties and spending time with his family and friends. He was always proud of his Italian heritage.

Calling hours are on Friday, March 25, 2005 from 3-7 p.m. Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. meeting directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
