Obituary of Madlyn Pettit

Madlyn Pettit, also known as Helen Baron, age 101, of Huntington, CT and Port Orange, Florida, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center, Stratford, CT. She was a daughter of the late Dominick and Margaret Tristane Iacozza, born on February 14, 1910 in Lewis Run, PA before the family relocated to Bridgeport, CT. Madlyn was the owner of the former Commercial Letter Service in Bridgeport and was a founding member of the Advertising Club of Fairfield County. Being an avid golfer, bridge player and yoga instructor for many years, she was a former member of Brownson Country Club (Huntington), Indian Ridge Country Club (Andover, MA) and Oceans Golf Club (Daytona Beach, FL). She traveled the world and also was greatly involved in senior travel while being a member of the Easton Senior Center. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husbands Paul Baron (musical conductor, arranger and composer) and Stephen Pettit, grandson William VandenBerg (Fairfield), son-in-law, Clarence Milwaukee VandenBerg (Huntington), brothers, Genero and Philip Iacozza (Bridgeport), sisters, Angela Pulie, Lita Parker and Mary Onkey (Easton), Ann Nyitray and Leona DeStefano (Trumbull) and several nephews. Survivors include her beloved and devoted daughter, Jane Baron VandenBerg (Huntington, CT and Port Orange, FL), cherished grandchildren, Diane Slossar and Ronald (Oxford, CT), Nancy Neary (Fayetteville, NY), Bryon VandenBerg and Theresa Casey (Stratford, CT), granddaughter-in-law, Elizabeth VandenBerg (Florida). Also great grandchildren, Bill and Brittany VandenBerg (Florida), Madeline and Bryon Neary (NY), several nieces and nephews, three step-daughters and several step-grandchildren. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the 2nd floor staff of Lord Chamberlain and also her personal physician Dr. Levin for their compassion and care. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and at 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence Church, Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
