Obituary of Acacio Pereira

Loving Husband, Father & Grandfather Acacio Pereira, age 75, of Shelton, beloved husband of Laura Fernandes Pereira, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013 in St. Vincent Medical Center with his family by his side. Born in Macos, Portugal on October 6, 1938, he was a son of the late Candido Pereira and Candida Almeida Pereira. Mr. Pereira came to the U. S. in 1968, settling in Bridgeport. He was a laborer for the Connecticut Laborers Union Local 665 for more than 25 years. He was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club and enjoyed watching soccer and being with his sons. He loved to tell stories of his adventures growing up in Portugal. After his retirement he took great pride in helping and being by his son Joes side in the establishment of Pereira Engineering. However, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his cherished granddaughters. He will always be remembered by all for being easy going, and for always having a spirit all can love. In addition to his beloved wife of 44 years, Laura, survivors include two loving sons, Joe Pereira of Shelton and Antonio Pereira and his wife Amber of Trumbull, two adored granddaughters, Bella and Gabi, three brothers, Jose Pereira of Shelton and Armando and Candido Pereira, both of Portugal, five sisters, Maria Augusta Barreira of Trumbull, Edite Gomes of Shelton, Esmeralda Moreiras of Trumbull, Fernanda Pereira of Trumbull, and Saozinha Sequeira of Portugal as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Maria Eugenia Almeida Pereira. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
