Obituary of Albertina Rua Pereira

July 27, 2013 Devoted Wife, Mother & Grandmother Albertina (Tina) Rua Pereira, age 58, of Shelton, beloved wife of Deacon Gabriel A. Pereira, died peacefully, after a long and brave battle with cancer, on Saturday July 27, 2013, at her home with her loving and devoted family by her side. Born in Gralhos, Montalegre, Portugal on September 22, 1954 she was a daughter of the late Firmino and Gloria Coelho Rua. Tina was formerly employed for many years for Doctors Russo and Esposito at Pediatric Associates, and later went on to earn her certificate to become a medical assistant. A dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport, she was a religious school teacher for many years and also served as coordinator for the school. She was very involved in the Emmaus and Cursilho community in Bridgeport as well as Danbury, Hartford, Naugatuck and Waterbury. Tina was very proud of her Portuguese heritage and would often show it in the many meals she enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She could often be found tending to her garden or her flowers in the yard. But above all she was a loving and caring person who loved her family very deeply. Tina was at her best when she was with her two grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will truly be missed by all who came in contact with her.
