Obituary of Rose Oddone

Rose Russo Oddone, age 89, of St. Augustine, Florida took her place in Heaven on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 joining her dear and beloved husband, Dino. Born on President Street in Brooklyn, New York, she was a daughter of the late Corrado and Francesca Accorso Russo. Known to her family and friends at Rosetta, she spent many years in Italy, first as a young girl in Sicily and then as a young woman in Turin, where she met and married Dino Oddone and started a family. During World War II, she worked as a civilian for the U. S. Allied forces utilizing her English working as a switchboard operator. In 1948, she was able to return to the U. S. making a home in Bridgeport for her husband and two daughters. Rose lived in Bridgeport until her move to St. Augustine in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Anna Oddone Stodolink and her husband, Joseph, Jr. of St. Augustine and Frances Oddone Tewksbury of North Carolina, four grandchildren, Dina and Laurel Stodolink and Eric and Gary Tewksbury. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of more than 55 years, Rose was pre-deceased by two sisters, Fillipia and Agatha and three brothers, Anthony, Salvatore and Louis. Rosettas laughter, generosity, kindness and love of family and friends will be missed by all who know and loved her. 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2004 at 12:30 p.m in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull, CT 06611. Interment services will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday morning from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
