Obituary of Arline M. O'Day
Arline Schauwecker O'Day, age 87, beloved wife of the late James Thomas O'Day, whom she was happily married to for over 50 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at home with her family by her side. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to the late Theodore and Kathleen Thornton Schauwecker on March 24, 1921, she was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and a graduate of Central High School.
During World War II, she worked at Remington Arms. She was subsequently employed at Sikorsky Aircraft and at the D. M. Read Co. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her cherished children, Arlene L. Chasse of Monroe and Kevin J. O'Day of Stratford, a son-in-law, Louis J. Chasse of Monroe, a daughter-in-law, Mary K. O'Day of Stratford and five wonderful granddaughters, Sarah Chasse of Norwalk, Jenny Chasse of Monroe, and Heather, Colleen and Haylie O'Day of Stratford, all of whom she was extremely proud. She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Paoletto of Milford, several nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Mildred McCarthy of Fairfield.
She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Mildred Beattie and Mabel Schauwecker and two brothers, Gordon and Francis Schauwecker.
Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Patrick Church, 851 North Ave., Bridgeport on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. There will be no calling hours.
