Obituary of Mary O'Connell

Bridgeport Resident OCONNELL- Mary Mascia OConnell, age 80 , of Bridgeport, a retired Howland/Steinbach employee, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 22, 2010 in Bridgeport hospital surrounded by her family. Mary, the loving wife of the late Richard D. Chick OConnell, has gone home to be with her true love of 54 years. Mary was born on February 10, 1930 in Waterbury. She was the daughter of the late Cesare and Ida Mascia. Mary was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, as well as a member of the Slyvan Crest Seniors. Mary was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport. She was an avid Mets and UConn Womens basketball fan, but her greatest passion was celebrating life with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her children Richard A. OConnell and his wife Maryanne of Trumbull, a daughter Marybeth A. Kiely and her husband William of Naugatuck, and Robert OConnell and his wife Nancy of Maplewood NJ; eight grandchildren Matthew, Brian, and Jillianne OConnell; Billy and Ryan Kiely; and Robbie, Sarah and Kate OConnell. Mary is also survived by her sisters, Annette Mascia of Bridgeport, and Phyllis Jackson of Milford, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Josephine Bogen and Rosemary Seery. Funeral Information Family and friends may call on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, May 27, 2010, at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Bridgeport. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Trumbull.
