Obituary of Edna Niedermeier

Trumbull Resident Edna Holmes Niedermeier, age 94, of Trumbull, died on Saturday, December 27, 2008. Edna was born in Bridgeport to the late John and Elizabeth Cavanaugh Holmes and lived in Trumbull over 75 years. She was a graduate of Lauralton Hall and attended the College of New Rochelle. She was a founding member of the League of St. Josephs Manor and a former volunteer. She also volunteered at the Rehabilitation Center of Bridgeport, a long time member of the St. Vincent Auxiliary, and a docent at the Trumbull Historical Society. In her later years, Edna traveled extensively and was an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her husband Leo J. Niedermeier Sr., an infant son, Paul, a sister, Grace Douglas and brothers, George and Vincent Holmes. Survivors include her four devoted children, a daughter, Mary Niedermeier of Norwalk, three sons, Thomas Niedermeier of Thomaston, Leo Niedermeier Jr. of Monroe and Michael Niedermeier and his wife Cindy of Trumbull, eight cherished grandchildren, Maribeth Devine and her husband Thomas of Norwalk, William L. Csontos of Arlington, VA, Thomas J. Niedermeier and his wife Michelle of Milford, Kelly Godo and her husband William of Stratford, Leo Niedermeier of Monroe, Jaime McAuliffe and her husband Chris of Oxford, Michael Niedermeier and his wife Lindsy of Stamford, Allison Niedermeier of New York, three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Edna will be fondly remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was always there in the good and bad times. She will always have a warm spot in all of our hearts and memories. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at St. Joseph Manor. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and in St. Theresa Church, Trumbull at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.
