Obituary of Manfred H. Mueller

Resident of Stratford Manfred H. (Fred) Mueller, age 85, of Stratford, beloved husband of Marjorie Fielden Mueller, died peacefully on September 8, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice, Branford, after a short illness. Born in Unterlangentadt, Germany on December 10, 1925, Fred was the son of the late Herman and Luise (Krotenheerdt) Mueller. He came to the United States at the age of six, and grew up in Bridgeport, where he graduated from Central High School. A proud World War II veteran, Fred enlisted in the U. S. Navy on Valentines Day, 1944, and served in the Naval Air Corps in the South Pacific. He was subsequently employed as an engraver with Schwerdtle Stamp Co. for over 40 years until his retirement in 1987. Fred enjoyed fishing, boating and reading, and was happiest when he was on or near the water. He and Marge also enjoyed many trips to Cape Cod, Florida, Germany and to several of his Navy squadron reunions in San Diego, CA, Pensacola, FL and other U. S. destinations. In addition to his bride of almost forty-nine years, Fred is survived by a nephew, Frederick Banks of Culpeper, VA, a great-niece, Gillian Kay of Cape Coral, FL, several cousins in Germany, and many good friends. He was an attentive son, a devoted husband, and a great and loyal friend. Unassuming, generous to a fault, and a true gentleman, he will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May the angels lead him into paradise.
