Obituary of Julia Petrosino Mooney

Julia Petrosino Mooney, age 76, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday April 15, 2005 in St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Vincenza Maratea Petrosino. Julia was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved to travel, dance and play in her weekly card games. Julia started her career in sales with the Royal Plastic Company in 1957 and then went to work for the Treasure Chest Company in 1962 selling china, crystal and cookware to newly engaged couples. She advanced to area manager and received many awards for top sales of the month. After retirement she went to work for the Hallmark Company as a merchandiser from 1992 until 2003. Her family was always her priority and they came first, especially her grandsons. She always enjoyed being surrounded by her family and friends, cooking and entertaining for them at her home.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Daniel J. Mooney Sr., a daughter, Donna Karagus and her companion, Jeffrey Virgo of Trumbull, a son, Daniel Mooney, Jr. and his wife, Debra of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, four grandsons, Mark, Craig and Bryon of Stratford and Daniel John III of Palm Beach, Florida, a brother, Ralph Petrosino and his wife, Flo of Trumbull, two sisters, Mary Sando and her husband, George of Trumbull and Elizabeth Battaglia and her husband, Sam of Bridgeport, several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and one great grand niece. Julia is also pre-deceased by her step-mother, Maria Ruggieri Petrosina and a brother, Philip Petrosino and his wife, Connie. 

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 9:00 a.m. from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery of Easton. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m.
