Obituary of Marie Milano

Marie E. Fasanella Milano, age 95, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. She was the beloved wife and Doll of the late A. Fred Milano. Born and raised in Bridgeport, she was one of five children born to the late Frank and Elizabeth Weiler-Fasanella. Her childhood summers were spent at the beach house in Lordship and later, Lake Zoar, where they always had a houseful of relatives, friends and good food. After her marriage to Fred they continued the tradition by building a cottage on Lake Zoar with Marie doing all of the cooking and enjoying many happy occasions there. After graduation from high school, she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the family owned Platt & Company. In 1943, she pursued an opportunity to work at Bridgeport Brass, becoming the Manager of the Credit Union, where she took great pride in her ability to advise co-workers and develop lifetime friendships. She was the first woman President of the Bridgeport Brass Quarter Century Club. Upon her retirement in 1977, Marie and Fred would spend the winter months in Florida. They were devoted pinochle players, mall walkers, and enjoyed the company of their coffee group. Marie continued to volunteer her time by providing income tax preparation for retirees, doing volunteer work at the Jewish Home in Fairfield and being an active member of the Bridgeport AARP. She is survived by her beloved brothers, James F. Fasanella of Trumbull, Frank (Lefty) Fasanella of Boynton Beach, Florida, and her beloved sister, Clara Faulkner of West Melbourne, Florida. Her brother Matthew Fasanella pre-deceased her. Aunt Dolly is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was blessed to have had the love and support of good friends, including Sylvia Walter and Robert and Roberta DeFonce and her devoted caregivers Vida, Raisa and Vera.
