Obituary of Dolores Mikota

Resident of Trumbull Dolores (Dolly) Edwina Mikota, age 86, of Trumbull, formerly of Illinois and New Jersey, wife of John Mikota, died peacefully on Christmas Eve, Saturday December 24, 2011 at St. Vincent Medical Center with her family by her side. Daughter of the late John and Vivian, she was born on September 10, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Mikota grew up in Chicago and met John in the early 1940s at a swimming hole. Dolly wrote John weekly while at wartime. Upon Johns return and education, they were married in September of 1949 in Chicago. Dolly worked as a field equipment service expediter for Western Electric Co. in Cicero, Illinois. Dolores was involved in many Trumbull social groups and loved the players in all. She was a member of and past president of the Trumbull Womans Club, was Conservation Chairman and raised money to have a tree planted along Main Street in front of Town Hall. She also belonged to the Long Hill Garden Club, the Welcome Wagon, Piecemakers-Quilters, the Trumbull Senior Center, Trumbull Historical Society, Red Hat Society-Trumbull Trotters, and was very active in all since 1977. In addition to her husband of 62 years, John, survivors include, three children, a daughter, Nancy Hutchings and her husband James of Burlington Township, NJ, two sons, Keith Mikota and his wife Caren of CO and Paul Mikota of Trumbull, who was a wonderful caregiver to his mom; two granddaughters, Chelsea Lynne and Jenna Renee, two step grandchildren, Zeb and Zachary Tate. She also leaves a brother Jack Flowers of Georgia, a sister, Shirley Mielke and sister in law, Florence Novak both of IL as well as several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Lorraine Ozog and her husband Fets, sister-in-law, Edwina Flowers and brother-in-law, Ray Novak Sr. Funeral Information Funeral Services will take place on Friday December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
