Obituary of Antoinette Abate

Trumbull Resident Antoinette Veltri Abate, age 77, of Trumbull, a home maker, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Born in Huntington, Long Island on September 8, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Celia Cargola Veltri, and was formerly a Bridgeport resident for over 50 years before moving to Trumbull. She was the widow of Salvatore Abate. Her family will fondly remember her generosity, the extreme pleasure she got from baking and cooking for others, the enjoyment she got from spending time with her children and grandchildren, and her devotion to her Catholic faith. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her devoted family, two sons, Anthony and Christine Abate of Trumbull, George and Pamela Abate of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and her daughter and best friend, Debbie Abate of Bridgeport, a brother, Richard Veltri and his wife Shirley of Hebron and a sister, Mary Lofts and her husband Dave of Langston, Alabama, five grandchildren, Carl, Diana, Katie, Hilary and Charlotte, a great grandson, Ryan, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and caregivers of the Jewish Home for the Elderly and St. Vincent Medical Center ICU. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 9 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull.
