Obituary of Thomasina R. Merando

Bridgeport Resident Thomasina (Tommy) Surace Merando, age 87, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Frank Merando for 65 years passed away peacefully on November 26, 2011 at St. Vincents Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Surace. Tommy, as she was referred to, had unconditional love for her family and was adored by all whose life she touched. She was a wonderful decorator and cook. Tommy was known for her great recipes that she shared with family and friends. She was the best mother and friend to her daughters. She adored her grandson Jason and regarded her son-in-law Stevie as her son. She will sadly be missed by everyone, but we will celebrate her life and all the wonderful things she gave us. Survivors include, her husband, Frank, two daughters, Gail Merando Friedman of Boca Raton and Lisa Christensen and her husband Stephen of Bridgeport, grandson Jason Friedman; a brother John Surace and his wife Joyce; brother-in-law Alvin Merando and his wife Janet, best friends of over 55 years Millie and Marty Martino as well as several nieces and nephews. We want to thank all the staff on the 8th floor ICU at St. Vincents for their compassion and care. Also, a special thanks to her wonderful doctors, Dr. Simokovitz, Dr. Lisi, and Dr. Spano for their great care and devotion to her throughout the years and to our special friends Alda Cartagena and Nancy Gerard for all the comfort and support they gave to our family. Funeral Information Prayer services will take place on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at 7:00 PM in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
