Obituary of James Johnson Mellen

Lifelong Easton Resident James Johnson Mellen age 72, a lifelong resident of Easton, beloved husband of Laurie Dann Mellen, died peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2012 at The Masonicare Health Center of Wallingford. Son of the late Francis P. Mellen and Doris Ward. He attended Easton schools, Bassick High School and received a degree from Norwalk State Technical School. In addition to his wife Laurie of 35 years, he leaves a son, Dwight James Mellen of Newtown, a stepson Ted LeBouthillier and his wife Sally of Fairfield, a daughter, Pamela Zellner and her husband Travis of MA, four grandchildren, Jack, Hannah, Miia and James, a brother, David Mellen of Illinois and a sister, Melinda Lasczak of NH. Mr. Mellen retired from Sikorsky Aircraft of Stratford, after many years with Pitney Bowes in Stamford, and U.S. Chrome in Stratford. Jim was a Past Master of the Ashlar/Aspetuck Lodge #142 Easton, Corrinthian Lodge #104 Fairfield, a member of the Scottish Rite, York Rite, Twilight Club and the Police Square Club. He was a member emeritus of the Easton Republican Town Committee, served on the Planning & Zoning Board, and a Justice of the Peace and Constable. Jim was an active member of the Congregational Church of Easton, the Easton Historical Society, the Easton Cemetery Committee and the Easton Senior Center. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Congregational Church of Easton, 336 Westport Rd., Easton, immediately followed by burial in the family (Ward) plot in Union Cemetery, 850 Sport Hill Rd., Easton. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A service of honor performed by the Masonic Order will be held at 7:00 PM.
