Obituary of Francis H. McNellis

U. S. Army Veteran Francis H. McNellis, Sr., age 78, of Newtown and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Marie Gulas McNellis, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Griffin Hospital with his family by his side. Born on July 9, 1933, Fran was proud to have been born on Pound Ridge Reservation in Lewisboro, NY. He was the son of the late Joseph McNelis and Louise McNelis Baxter. A U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was the owner and operator of Glenwood Electronics in Bridgeport for over 30 years and had also been formerly employed by Singer Corp. for over 20 years. He was president of the Polish American Citizens Club (PACC). An avid outdoorsman, Fran enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed tending to the chickens in his yard and could often be found doing his daily crossword puzzle. A fun loving guy, Fran enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Everyone could always count on listening to Frans jokes and life stories. In addition to his wife, Marie of 55 years, survivors include three loving children, Darlene McNellis of Newtown, Lt. Francis H. McNellis Jr., Bridgeport Fire Dept. and his companion Adelina Torres and her children, Manny and Alina of Monroe and Michele Revere and her husband Ron of Newtown, seven cherished grandchildren, Francis H. III, Joseph and Leah McNellis, Dominic, Marie and Anthony Berarducci and Lt. Corporal Ramon Rodriguez, USMC, three great grandchildren, Mason, Michael & Mila. He is also survived by a brother, George McNelis of Florida, sister, Grace Baxter of TN, brother and sister in law Mickey and Rose Gulas of Florida, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Joseph McNelis and William Baxter. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
