Obituary of Franklyn E. Bennett

Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather Franklyn Emerson Bennett, 85, of Trumbull, formerly of Southport, entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Middlemiss) Bennett and the very proud father of seven children and grandfather of twenty grandchildren. Born in Queens, NY, son of William Elliot and Marie Bennett, Franklyn grew up in Highland Falls, NY enjoying the outdoors. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, earned a BS from St. Johns University with graduate work at New York University and was a retired Marketing Manager from McKesson and Robbins/MK Laboratories. He was an avid student of military history who visited all the major battlefields of the Civil War, and enjoyed hiking, hunting, sailing, traveling and rooting for the NY Giants. Above all he cherished his family and was an active supporter at all the many and varied activities in which his children and grandchildren were involved. Franklyn was a member of the Fairfield American Legion, and the Gaelic American Club in Fairfield. In addition to Rita, his loving wife of 60 years, he will be deeply missed by his devoted children Diane and her husband Patrick Speer of Bridgeport; Susan and her husband Richard Batchelder of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; James and his wife Veronica of Clifton, VA; Nancy and her husband Don Harris of Darien; Eileen and her husband Michael Devore of Trumbull; Elizabeth Bennett of New York, NY; Steven and his wife Deirdre Bennett of Fairfield and by his beloved grandchildren Moira Speer and her fiance Tim Warren, Eamon and his wife Dayana Speer, Sean, Ryan and Meghan Batchelder, David, Colleen and Laura Bennett, Liam, Connor, Brendan and Lachlan Harris, Patrick, James and Kathleen Devore, and Brian, Caitlin and Connor Bennett. He was predeceased by his dearly loved grandsons Graham Harris and LCpl. Daniel Ryan Bennett, his sister Jeanne and his brother David. Funeral Information Family and friends may call on Monday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull.
