Obituary of John Edward Foley

June 01, 2012 John Edward Foley born 1927 passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 1, 2012 in Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport to Cyril and Gladys Foley of Stratford; John graduated from Fairfield College Preparatory School and served in the United States Navy. Upon his return, he married Louise Caselli of Stratford. John studied mechanical engineering at the University of Connecticut and Bridgeport Engineering Institute and was employed by Producto Machine, Bullards and retired from U.S. Baird Corp. Johns life was filled with service to his church, youth, and community. He was involved in Indian Guides and Scouting. During his 25 years of scouting he served as a scout master, troop leader, and Eagle Scout mentor. As an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, he volunteered in the Holy Name Society. His service to community included the Trumbulls Town Republican Committee, Board of Education, and the Town Council. John and his wife of 57 years were avid members of the country dance music community. He and Louise were the founding members of NOMAD Dance Festival and traveled extensively to perform country dance. John was an avid fly fisherman, enjoyed books and camping with his family. In his retirement, he took pleasure in making wooden toys. He is survived by his wife, Louise, his brother, Robert Foley of Stratford and his four children, Patty Foley of Newington, Michael and his wife, Jeanne of Fairfield, Timothy and his wife, Sandy of Huntington, and Peter and his wife, Denise of Wildwood, Missouri. He has eight grandchildren, Taylor, Jessica, Shelby and Christopher of Wildwood, Missouri; Jordan, Spencer, Savannah and Seamus of Fairfield and many loving friends and family. Funeral Information Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial mass at St. Catherine of Siena, 200 Shelton Road, Trumbull at 4 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Immediately after mass, please join us from 5 to 8 pm at the church for a gathering to celebrate Johns life. There will be no viewing or calling hours. Donations Information His family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Catherine of Siena or Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 99 Hawley Lane, Suite 1204, Stratford, CT 06614. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
