Obituary of Francesco Ventresca

Francesco (Frank) Ventresca, age 78, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Katina Maria Gulotta Ventresca, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Born on December 28, 1938 in Introdacqua, Pr Aquila of Abruzzi, Italy, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Claudina DiBenedetto Ventresca. Frank immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and settled in Bridgeport. A tile setter by trade, he was a member of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union, Local 1. In his earlier years, he was a player of the Bridgeport Italian Soccer Club, and he also enjoyed singing in the Italian church choir. He had a strong passion for soccer and enjoyed watching his favorite team Inter. Frank also enjoyed watching his westerns. He was a hardworking and loving man and was at his best when he was with family; especially his grandchildren. His smile could light up a room when the grandchildren were around him. The unconditional love and family values he taught will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who loved him. He will truly be missed by all. In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years, Katina, survivors include three loving children, Frank Ventresca and his wife Irene of Shelton, Tony Ventresca and his wife Keri of Monroe, Claudia Ventresca of Bridgeport, four cherished grandchildren, Lia, Maia, Dante and Cristian, two sisters, Enrichetta Ventresca (widow) DiTunno of Italy and Lina Santilli and her husband John of Dearborn, MI, nieces and nephews, Giuseppe, Mario and his wife Lucia, Debra, Franco and his wife Monica and John and his wife Susan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony Tadduni and his wife Debbie, Vicki Masiak, Betty Mezzo and her husband Louie and Alfia Pimpinella; as well as several additional nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother-in-law, Frank and Rosa Tadduni. Funeral services will be take place on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Shrine, Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Pilgrimage Mausoleum in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
