Obituary of Arminda Branco Barros

Arminda Branco Barros, age 90, of Fairfield and formerly of Waterbury, beloved wife of the late Antonio Barros, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 16, 1926 in Padroso, Montalegre, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Ana Apolinario Branco. Arminda was a retired employee of St. Mary’s Hospital, Waterbury with 27 years of dedicated service. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was always dedicated to the love and care of her family. Arminda was an outgoing woman, instilled strong family values and always put others before herself. Her love and memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. She was predeceased by a daughter, Virginia Teixeira, a brother Jose Branco and a sister, Isabel Pires. Survivors include her two loving children, Maria Moreno and her husband John of Fairfield, and Raul Barros and his wife Rebecca of Beacon Falls, son-in-law Albino Teixeira of Florida, seven cherished grandchildren, Dina Massey and her husband Michael, Paul Moreno and his wife Kathy, Tina Drongeson and her husband Leland, Joyce Teixeira and her fiancé Steve, Albino Teixeira Jr. and his fiancé Simone, Anthony Barros and his wife Daniela and Michael Barros, 11 great grandchildren Marc, Olivia, Madeline, Ben, Leland, Dylan, Tyler, Jack, Bino, Mya, and Sabina; a brother Manuel Branco and his wife Ana, a sister, Ana Ribas and her husband Antonio, and a sister-in-law, Aurora Branco, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing staff of Cambridge Manor, Fairfield for the professional and extraordinarily compassionate care and the love given to “Mama” during her time there. Your kindness toward her and the rest of our family, has been appreciated more than you will ever know. You will forever have a special place in our hearts. Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
