Obituary of Michal Jerzy Bartlomowicz

Michal Jerzy Bartlomowicz, 63, of Southbury, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2016 in Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He was being treated for cardiac amyloidosis and awaiting a donor for a heart transplant. Michal was born on September 21, 1952 in Tomaszow Lubelski, Poland to parents Halina Maria and Zdzislaw Bartlomowicz. As a student he was a track athlete and an accomplished rower. After spending some time in Italy as a political refugee, he immigrated to the US in 1987 and started MB Electric Company a year later. He went on to meet his future wife, Margaret, that same year and married her in 1991. Michal was passionate about his family and business, as well as the craft of handiwork, striving for excellence in everything he did. When he was not working or fixing something around the house, he enjoyed reading, computers, watching movies, listening to classical and rock music, and eating seafood. Survivors include his beloved wife of 25 years, Margaret of Southbury; his 23 year old son, Michal of Southbury; his younger sister Aleksandra Teresa Pawlowska of Poland; his mother in law Cecylia Kolakowska of Southbury, his sister in law Eva and husband Chris Trefz of Wesport; his brother in law Jacek Kolakowski and wife Ula of Poland; his brother in law Wojtek Kolakowski and wife Barbara of Poland; his nieces and nephews Maria Kopacz, Grzegorz Fobijanski, Winston Janusz, Michal Kolakowski, Filip Kolakowski, and Karolina Kolakowska; and his many cousins, relatives, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Halina and Zdzislaw, and older infant brother Zdzislaw. Funeral services will take place on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. directly St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Mt. Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
