Obituary of Rev. George F. Healy

Stratford Resident Rev. George F. Healy C.S.Sp., passed away peacefully October 21, 2011 at St. Vincent Medical Center surrounded by his family. Born on August 14, 1927, he was a son of the late Michael W. and Elizabeth Coughlin Healy. Father Healy became a member of the Congregation of the Holy Ghost in 1942. He was ordained by Bishop John Hackett, February 5, 1953. Following his ordination he served in several parishes in Puerto Rico from 1954-1968. In succeeding years he served in parishes in Arizona, New Orleans and California. His later missions involved duties as Vocation Director, Pastor of St. Agnes Parish, San Antonio, Superior, Director of the Priest Retirement Home, Hemet California. Father Healy was pre-deceased by two sisters, Elizabeth (Betty) Cupp, Sarah (Sally) Bearss, and six brothers, John (Jack) F. Healy, Clement J. Healy, Michael W. Healy, Joseph A. Healy, Robert W. Healy and Rev. James K. Healy, C.S.Sp. He is survived by two sisters, Edna Healy Henchy, and Sister Mary L. Healy RSM of West Hartford, and two brothers, Patrick F. Healy and Charles W. Healy. He will be remembered for his commitment to the apostolic and religious life, his compassion for the sick and the poor and his caring concern for all the needy people that came into his life. He loved and was loved by his immediate family and all those whose lives he touched. Funeral Information Friends are invited to meet directly in St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Ln., Stratford on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family and friends may call on Monday, October 24, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
